Cora Cora Maldives has announced the promotion of Muizz Mohamed to General Manager, effective 1 October 2026, marking an important milestone in the leadership journey of one of the resort’s founding team members.
Muizz has been part of Cora Cora Maldives since its pre-opening phase and has grown with the resort over the past six years. His progression reflects both his extensive hospitality experience and Cora Cora Maldives’ commitment to developing Maldivian talent from within.
From Pre-Opening Team to General Manager
Muizz Mohamed joined Cora Cora Maldives as Director of Human Resources, where he played an important role in establishing a workplace culture built around equal opportunities, diversity, equity and inclusion.
During his time in the role, he also focused on creating opportunities for Maldivian professionals and supporting the development of local talent.
He later progressed through senior operational positions, becoming Director of Operations and subsequently Resort Manager. These roles allowed him to gain experience across different areas of resort management while developing strong relationships with both guests and team members.
His promotion to General Manager represents the next step in a career shaped by hands-on experience and long-term commitment to the resort.
A Leadership Style Built Around People
One of Muizz’s defining qualities is his approachable and people-focused leadership style. He believes in being present, listening carefully and understanding the experiences of both guests and colleagues.
As Resort Manager, he placed guest relations at the centre of the operation, using direct conversations and feedback to identify opportunities for improvement. He worked closely with teams across the island to turn those insights into practical changes that could enhance the overall guest experience.
His connection with the resort’s more than 250 team members has also helped establish him as a familiar and respected presence across the island.
Supporting Resort Operations and Local Communities
Muizz’s contribution extends beyond guest services. His experience covers various aspects of resort operations, maintenance, annual improvements and key island projects.
He has also developed relationships with neighbouring communities across Raa Atoll, strengthening the connection between the resort and its surrounding environment.
With more than 15 years of hospitality experience, alongside three years in banking and finance, Muizz brings a broad professional background to his new position. Before joining Cora Cora Maldives, he worked across several five-star resorts in the Maldives.
He has also completed a course in Hotel Management, Owner Relations and Asset Management at Cornell University, adding further knowledge to his operational and leadership experience.
